The Journey: Discovering What's Next
Are you thinking about what's next for you or have you been comfortable, but thinking there's got to be more. There is!!
We're all on a journey and have a next step. No matter who we are or what we believe, we are created in God’s image. Because of this, we have eternity set in our hearts. We have a God spot and all of us are somewhere on the journey of finding the peace and joy that comes from have that spot filled.
Prov 29:18 states “Where there is no vision the people perish.” Vision, "chazon" in Hebrew, means revelation, passion, a dream. If we don't have clarity in what we're pursuing, we die - maybe not physically but there is no life in our days, weeks, months. In another version of this same scripture, the idea is restated, “Without revelation, people cast off restraint.” Without vision, people have a “whatever” attitude. They cast off their emotions, relationships, hopes. A normal human response is to try to STOP “casting off restraint”. But this is not the way to fix it. We need something that is better than what we've been doing or partaking in. We fix it by attending to what God reveals and THEN we are most blessed (happy, contented in our soul). No matter where you are on the journey, you can be filled and happy. God fills the spot that is vacant and things make so much more sense. Joy and peace are yours. I hate to see people settling for less than God has for them. Jesus paid a high price for you and me. He paid too high of a price for you not to get all He has in mind for you. John 10:10 teaches that He came that you might have a full and satisfying life. It is the devil who comes to steal, kill and destroy.
Everybody wants (needs) to know God. God left Himself out of everything so that we're not happy without Him. We need a deep, intimate, personal, powerful relationship with a real, true, powerful, living God. God is madly in love with you. You want to know Him. In knowing God, we find freedom. Finding freedom means to get over our hang-ups, habits, past and shame - the part of us, that if it wasn't going on in our life, things would be so much better. Experience the freedom only Jesus can give. The two most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why you were born. If you haven't wiped the smudge of yesterday off your glasses, you won't be able to discover your purpose. When we're free, we can see! AND, God has a unique, special, individual calling customized just for you. Gal 6: 4 in the Message Bible says to make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you've been given and then sink yourself into it!
Once we are free and discover our purpose, we can truly make a difference. And, this is our starting point - knowing our destination. The best way to make a difference is to lead people into eternity with God. Jesus gave the church a mission, a purpose - to tell people the gospel. We will be happier, focused and fulfilled if we know why we are alive and where we're going. Jesus’ final words were to give us a mission - be my witnesses to those around you, to those who may live in your region but are different from you, and to those who are far off. We're not just here for us. We're here for them. Tell them what God has done for you. Tell them the difference God has made in your life. Tell your story and watch it make a difference.
