CREATING YOUR OWN ECONOMY
WEEK 2

God has an amazing financial plan for your life that goes beyond just accumulating wealth. The key is understanding that prosperity isn't about hoarding resources, but about distribution; having financial peace, and being a blessing to others.

God has purposes for your prosperity:

  • Provision: To take care of your family and bills without stress
  • Generosity: To be able to help and bless others
  • Kingdom advancement: As you put God’s kingdom first, He will take care of you

A critical mindset shift is recognizing that God is the true source of all your provision. There’s no such thing as a self-made millionaire. While resources may come through jobs, businesses, or other people, ultimately God is the one who gives the ability to create wealth. Deuteronomy 8 reminds us that it's the Lord who provides the strength, creativity, and ability to produce wealth. This understanding helps prevent pride and maintains proper perspective.

One key biblical financial principle that the church has not taught on much is having a "storehouse" - a place to save and store resources for future needs and opportunities. A kingdom-minded person saves with a purpose. This is not for hoarding but for preparing to be a blessing. When you have a storehouse in place, you will experience a sense of financial stability. You will be prepared for lean times. Having a storehouse then gives you the ability to give strategically when opportunities arise. It is a demonstration of good stewardship and it commands the blessing of God.

Practical steps to implement the storehouse principle include:

  • Tithing - if you haven’t been tithing start now! Tithing by definition is a tenth but start with something
  • Savings - Designate specific savings/investment accounts
  • Frugality - Live below your means so you can save and give
  • Save - Save consistently and give when God provides the opportunity
  • Legacy - Plan for generational impact
  • Invest in the future - Teach these principles to your children

Understand, God wants to bless you. Use these principles to position yourself to make a lasting impact on your family and on the kingdom of God. Remember: Life goes better when you put God first.
