Last week we changed the acronym, WWJD to WDJD. When Jesus was getting ready to depart this earth, he said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father”
(John 14:12 NLT). You and I are called to do what Jesus did, but to do that, we have to know what he did, and then how we can follow his example.
Jesus was led and empowered by the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:38; Luke 4:18-19). He didn’t say or do anything without the Holy Spirit. He came to bring freedom to the poor, to heal the brokenhearted, to free those who were bound and oppressed and to give them a rich and satisfying life (John 10:10b NLT). We can do what he did! God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and if we ask, we can be anointed with the Holy Spirit. We should be ministering to the poor and to the brokenhearted. We can minister in spite of our own needs. Tell people what Jesus did and that they don’t have to be bound. He came to set us free. Pray for those who are oppressed. Pay attention to people around you that you can help. It’s an everyday thing.
Ask for the Holy Spirit to guide you and inspire you. Rely on him. He wants to do every day with you. Be Christlike, and put faith into action. Your behavior and heart should reflect Jesus. On Sundays, we celebrate and then we go out and do what he did. Deal with your BS… your belief systems. Are they holding you back?
We need to let people know that the prison doors are unlocked and they are free to go. People tend to go through life believing that they cannot do something because it has failed before. Jesus has already forgiven them, he has healed them. He has already bought their freedom. Everything that you and I need to live and to walk in victory has already been paid for on the cross by the blood of Jesus. Through the blood of Jesus, and by the name of Jesus, we have all authority over the enemy. Repent and receive what Jesus has done for you. Accept the price that’s been paid.
Colossians 2:15 shows us that Jesus destroyed the power of the devil. Do not give place to the devil (Ephesians 4:27). The devil is not that big. We tend to give him more credit that he deserves. Stop magnifying him. The Bible says when God speaks, that heaven shakes, and the Earth trembles, and the mountains are brought low and the valleys are made straight, that nothing is impossible with him. Know God.
If we are going to do what Jesus did, then we’ve got to realize that the Bible says that those who know their God will do exploits in his name. We are already in a place of victory (I John 4:4 NLT). You belong to God. You have already won the victory because the spirit lives in you and is greater than the spirit in the world (I John 4:4). All things are under your feet because you sit with Christ in heavenly places and the devil is under his feet. We read it last week in Matthew 28 that he has given you all power and authority in heaven to GO into all the world. God says he has placed his power and anointing on the inside of you and you’re called to do the works of Jesus. Each one of us is called.
So what are we to do? “We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned to us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work” (John 9:4 NLT). Do the work now. You must make a decision every day to do what Jesus did. It doesn’t matter what’s going on around you. You must decide that circumstances are not going to stop you from doing the work of Jesus.
Too many people are in a position where they’re just waiting on God. Let me tell you, it’s time for us to get connected with the Holy Spirit and find out what his ways are and what his thoughts are. When you connect with the Holy Spirit, you will understand how you will do greater works (John 14:12). He is waiting for you. You just have to make a decision. You’re going to have to get off of your blessed assurance, shake yourself and say, “WDJD”.
Now, let me make this clear. You will have some opposition and you will have some conflict along the way, but that just means you’re in good company. When Jesus spoke in public, people picked up rocks to stone him. It doesn’t matter what people say. Just make sure you are right with God, bypass the circumstances around you and keep doing the work of Jesus. Get hold of this. It will impact your city.
People have all kinds of excuses for why they can’t do great things. Moses didn’t think he was a good speaker either but he stood up to the pharaoh and led the children of Israel out of bondage. Ask the Holy Spirit to use you and then rely on him. Ask him to connect you with someone. Don’t be full of religion and knowledge with no anointing. When you’re doing the work of Jesus, the Holy Spirit will give you the words to say and you’ll be amazed by what comes out of your mouth.
People are always waiting for a time that never comes. To do the work of Jesus, just start where you are. Don’t go by how you feel. If you’re fighting sickness in your body, go pray for someone else. If you have a financial need, go out of your way to be a blessing to other people. Your own needs will be supernaturally met.
You can’t go by the way things look. God uses people of all different shapes and sizes to do his work. Don’t lean on your education. It’s the anointing that you need. As long as you have a revelation of the love of God, and believe in the power of the word of God, with the anointing of God on your life, you are going to be able to minister the good news of the gospel to others, regardless of any liabilities, abilities, or inabilities! He’s looking for available people. Ask him to use you this week. GO and DO!
