Where you are is just as important as who you are. Location, location, location!
Genesis 2:8 shows us that God planted a garden, and there he put the man whom he had formed. And there. Places were created by God before He created people. Understand this. The place was created before the man so that when man arrived, everything he needed to fulfill his destiny and calling was already there.
God created us in His image. We have the power to create. We create an environment by our words, attitudes and actions for instance. Think about this. God didn’t give Adam a table and chair. He gave him trees. What you have and what you need are already in your life awaiting your recognition of it. It may be in seed form, but what you need for creation of the thing is provided. Without God, you can’t but without you, God won’t. Get where God says for you to be as soon as possible.
When the Israelites sent 12 spies into the Promised Land (Numbers 13), they reported it was indeed a land flowing with milk and honey. But ten gave a negative report that they could not take the land. The Israelites had proof that what God said was there, but they created uncertainty by telling of giants in the land and claiming to be less than what God said they were. They shut down the blessing that God had for them and declared they were not able. No one over 20 years old made it into the Promised Land from that group. Don’t let your negative attitude prevent you from walking in what God has for you.
When the Israelites tried to go into the Promised Land after God had spoken their consequences, they were defeated soundly. It’s important to be where you are called to be. David was in the right place when he encountered Goliath. But, after he was king, he should’ve been with his army in battle but instead, he tarried at Jerusalem. This gave opportunity for the worst sin of his life and caused a curse to be on his family.
Elijah is a great example. In I Kings 17, God commanded him to get to the Brook of Cherith and there, the ravens would feed him. He obeyed God and ravens brought bread and flesh to him day and night. This was supernatural provision. God changed the nature of the ravens in order to feed Elijah. God will provide for you the very thing you need in the moment you need it. But you need to be where God has told you to be.
After the brook dried up, God told him to go to the widow of Zarephath. Get to know the voice of the Spirit and follow it. He will always lead you well. The widow was equipped to sustain Elijah there. If he’d stayed at the brook, he would have died. God’s provision was there, with the widow. The devil was not causing him lack. Elijah had not sinned. God was moving him. Your provision is where God assigns you. You’ll never have faith from God for a place He didn’t send you. The widow did what Elijah asked and made him a cake out of her last meal. He knew if she obeyed, she would have what she needed to sustain him, herself and her son until rain came to the land.
Cherith was a sabbatical for Elijah and he rested. But as he went to Zarephath, it was about the widow and her son who was about to die and whom Elijah would raise from the dead. Who is waiting on the other side of your obedience? You can’t release the blessings you have on the inside of you until you get there. Are you willing to risk everything to gain everything in A Place Called There?
Don’t get attached to your old “there”. Don’t stay stuck. Go where God is calling you. God has plans for you and He is ordering your steps. John 14:1-3 assures us, “I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” Nothing compares to what God has prepared for you. He will come again to bring you to be there with Him. You were born on purpose, for a purpose. Get to know the voice of God so you can be “there” where He wants you to be.
