Mirror Mirror(God Encounters)

Mirror, mirror on the wall - who’s the fairest of them all? What do you use to define yourself? What mirror are you looking in for validation?

Many see themselves through the Mirror of Failure. To say you are what you did is a lie. Defining yourself in this way is an incorrect view of who you are. God never sees you by what you did. God sees you by what you can become. In Deuteronomy 4:29 God makes a promise, “But from there you will search again for the LORD your God. And if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him.” From where? From where you are – right now.

The Mirror of Social Pressure is another place people look for validation. There have been things spoken about us and to us our whole lives. Not all of it is positive. Have you defined yourself by what others have declared over your life? Ask God to show you what you have believed if you are not sure and then ask Him to show you His picture of you. The Bible is full of promises and declarations that encourage and build up. Deuteronomy 31:8 is a great place to start, “He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Another great one is Isaiah 41:10, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up.”

These scriptures are also good to help with the third mirror – the Mirror of Inferiority. Inferiority can play havoc with our mindset. We can fight inferiority by declaring what God says instead. Psalm 139:14 proclaims, “I praise you [God], for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” Ask for and receive God’s favor and blessing by faith, knowing He will do what He said He would do. Ask God to show you your purpose in life. He knows and He wants you to know! Something New in 22! This year, start believing new things about yourself as you get into God’s word and have a personal encounter with His truth! It’s not too late to get God’s picture of you.
